President's Greeting

President's Message
Dr. Richard M. Cowin

Welcome to the official website of the Academy of Ambulatory Foot & Ankle Surgery. If you're visiting this site, you're likely either a doctor interested in learning about the revolutionary minimally invasive foot and ankle procedures that we teach and promote, or you're a foot pain sufferer looking for a "better way" to have your feet treated. In either case, please be assured that you're in "the right place at the right time."

You have probably seen and heard about some of the many advancements in the field of minimally invasive surgery for such problems as cataracts, gall bladder problems, cartilage problems in the knees, women's gynecological problems, and many others. You've also likely wondered about when someone would invent minimally invasive surgical procedures to treat foot problems such as bunions, hammer toes, and heel spurs without hospitalization, casts, pins, or screws.

Good news ! We have !! Infact, we've been teaching these procedures for more than 25 years and were the first organization to embrace minimally invasive surgery in any specialty.

If you're a doctor wanting to learn more about how you can better help your patients by learning state-of-the-art minimally invasive foot and ankle surgical techniques, please plan to join us at one of our biannual surgical seminars and take advantage of our mentoring program. You can find out more about these on this website or by calling our national office at 1-800-433-4892.

If you're a perspective patient wanting to find out about the procedures that we teach and promote and then seek consultation with one of our member doctors in your geographical area, this website will provide you with some basic information. I then suggest that you use the doctor-locator section of this website which will provide you with the names and contact information for our member doctors in your state. Of course, there is no substitute for an examination and consultation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our national office at 1-800-433-4892.

You've taken the right "first step." Now, get ready to put your "best foot forward."
